Sumo was made for the EcoDesign Exhibition, Helsinki, Finland.
The chair is covered with Tärnsjö leather and filled with buckwheat shells.Tärnsjö leather is vegetable-based organically tanned for minimal impact on the environment. The buckwheat, an ecologically cultivated herb is used for cooking and baking. The buckwheat shell, which cannot be used for cooking is usually considered a waste product.
The After Dinner Chair is an experiment with renewable and biodegradable materials where much of the material is waste products from food production. The chair has basically the form of a conventional thin chair, that has been filled to its limits, which create the shape of the chair.
