Wilmer 2012
New product: Wilmer
13 February, 2012

We modern humans always want to be so perfect. We have to work, eat, drink, socialise, read, play, update and then work a bit more. At work, at home and in between in public spaces, we are always online and available. Our interaction with our surroundings is constantly changing, while our old needs remain. How effective is normal furniture in our new technical world? Resting, sitting down with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine, a book, a newspaper, your mobile phone or computer, at home or away. Can we combine functions in a piece of furniture to suit our way of life today?

Wilmer is a hybrid with irregular shapes, but with traces of classic furniture.

A shelf for bits and bobs, a mobile table top and seat to relax in. The table is just as important as the chair or armchair – furniture made to be used, perhaps representing a way of life?

New Nosy
New product: Nosy
1 April, 2011

Discreet but downright hard-working, Nosy is an efficient LED downlight that can illuminate fairly large areas or workplaces. Made of extruded aluminium with side panels of cast aluminium, the construction has a solid feel despite the minimalist design. Nosy works well on its own, but is also ideal in multiple units to light really big areas. Produced in collaboration with Ateljé Lyktan.

Dundra chairs
New product: Dundra
8 February, 2011

Pillows and cushions are available in many shapes and sizes and used in many contexts – often to enhance comfort, add a dash of extra colour to a room, or simply to create a cosy atmosphere. Traditionally, exclusive and exquisite objects – jewels, pearls and crowns, for example – are laid on a pillow to highlight their value. I think our bodies deserve more pillows! That’s why, last year, I designed Dunder sofa – with the pillow as my inspiration.

Now I wanted to design a truly irresistible upholstered chair based on the same idea. A chair that would look and feel even softer, reduce noise levels in our immediate surroundings and yet not take up too much space. The result was a chair and an armchair in the same series, both of them stackable – and sumptuously comfortable, of course. The armchair has springs inside the soft foam padding, which together with the soft, convex back, ensure a very high degree of comfort. Stackable chairs can, of course, be convenient for the user, but in many ways their greatest value lies in the fact that they require much less space in transport.

Like Dunder sofa, the Dundra series is equally at home both in public spaces such as restaurants, hotels and libraries, and in private homes. The series also includes a high stool, almost like a pedestal to highlight the most valuable thing of all that we have – our own bodies. Produced in collaboration with Blå Station, and launched during the Stockholm Furniture Fair.

New Frost
New product: Frost
8 February, 2011

The inspiration for this product comes from the Scandinavian climate. There is something special about the hoar frost that decorates the trees in winter – a sensation of brittle beauty that I have tried to transfer to Frost. Abstracta asked me to create a screen wall that was stable, fire-rated and environmentally friendly. And, of course, it had to be attractive and affordable, too. Not necessarily the easiest of features to combine. The result was Frost.

The kind of expanded metal used to make Frost is usually seen in slightly less refined environments, such as staircases, grating and flooring. However, the partition’s flocked surface provides a pleasant contrast to the metal and lends the product a softer look. The surface is flat, yet vibrant and tactile. As the holes are cut into the metal at an angle, the effect is a change in the appearance of the screen, depending on where you stand. This gives Frost its unique expression – a room-divider that is both open and airy, yet also functions as a screen. Produced in collaboration with Abstracta, and launched during the Stockholm Furniture Fair.
